NOT YOUR TYPICAL COFFEE COCKTAIL

It is said that Irish Coffee was first created in the 1940’s by a barman at Shannon Airport, outside of Limerick in Ireland, called Joe Sheridan. He sought to offer travellers a warming “pick me up” as they waited to travel, and the cocktail is still now widely offered around the world as exactly that. A warming pick me up!

Ingredients

 • 45 ml Irish Whiskey

 • 120 ml Strong Black Coffee (Hot)

 • 2 x Tea Spoon Brown Sugar

 • 30 ml cream

 • Nutmeg

Method

1. Make the coffee as a strong Americano or long black (should be hot)

2. Add sugar to an Irish Coffee glass (or latte glass)

3. Stir in the hot coffee and whiskey and stir to dissolve the sugar

4. In a shaker, dry shake (no ice) the cream to make thick.

5. Use the back of a bar spoon to float the cream on top of the hot coffee and

whiskey mixture

6. Grate the nutmeg over the top of the cream float to serve
